Slider height

  • Hi,

    In your Hipster demo, the height of the slider is approx 500 px, but my slider is approx 600 px. How do I reduce the height?

    If I want the slider, then 1 column last/featured posts under, then a 1 column with a specific category under that again, should I build that page with the composer? Is that possible to do on the home page (you recommend to use the blog page in your docs)?

    Finally, how do I add different language choices in the menu (top menu or primary menu), I am using the WPML plugin.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    1/ Because your images you using for your featured image are so small. ( size: 900 x 600px )
    Please use images for your featured image with at least 1170px width and 650px height. The images will auto crop.
    We’ve said about this in the documentation for Soledad theme:
    http://pencidesign.com/soledad/soledad-document/#!/featured-slider

    2/ Do you mean create featured categories on your homepage?
    If right, please check this video tutorial

    3/ You should check the documentation from WPML to create this and get support from authors of plugin WPML.

    Hi,

    Thanks for quick reply. My featured images are 1059×706, so they are not that small. So when they are smaller the slider gets bigger? I don´t see the logic.

    So it will not be able to autocrop or make the slider smaller (in height) without the correct image size? I am importing 500 posts from the old site, and it will be a lot of work to manually update the featured image.

    Regards,

    Kent

    Is it by any chance to set the featured categories BELOW the latest posts?

    Thanks,

    Kent

    Hi,

    1/ You just need update featured images for all your posts display in your featured slider. Not need update for all posts.

    2/ If you want to do that, please use VC to build this.

    Thanks a lot,

    How can I change the layout/design on the homepage title box?

    Regards,

    Kent

    Hi,

    Please check options for this in Customize > Colors for Homepage.

    Hi,

    Regarding the title box, I meant how to replace it with something else? I would like the regular page title (with two lines under) instead of the box on all h1 titles on the website.

    How can I remove the footer widget box on dedicated pages? I don’t want it on all pages.

    And for the mega menu, can I add a link to a PAGE as a category sub menu (under Africa on the Culinary Travels menu for instance)

    Hi There,

    Regarding the title box, I meant how to replace it with something else? I would like the regular page title (with two lines under) instead of the box on all h1 titles on the website.

    Could you please provide us with some screenshots?

    How can I remove the footer widget box on dedicated pages? I don’t want it on all pages.

    To to that, please add the following CSS under Customizer > Custom CSS:

    .page-id-123 #widget-area,
    .page-id-456 #widget-area {
    display: none;
    }

    Replace the 123, 456 number with your pages ID.

    And for the mega menu, can I add a link to a PAGE as a category sub menu (under Africa on the Culinary Travels menu for instance)

    You can add a page / custom link instead of a category as sub-menu:

    View post on imgur.com

    View post on imgur.com

    Hope it helps.

    PenciDesign.

    Hi again,

    Please have a look at the attached images. I would like all my titles with the two lines under the title (green), not the default title boxes around (red). How can I do that?

    Hi,

    Sorry this theme doesn’t support this feature.
    You’re using heading title from featured categories & heading for latest posts on homepage.
    It’s default style for that.

    Hi,

    Thanks. If I create a new page, I will get the title I want on top (with two lines below text). I assume I can get same heading title style for other parts of the page, using the Visual Composer? How?

    Kent

    Ok, so changing the heading title STYLE is obvious not possible, but help me out here, something must be able to do?

    I have edited the borders so they don´t show up, and I have changed the font. How can I adjust the size of the header font, to just affect the titles, not the menues or other titles (sidebars etc)? Can I set a custom header size, or only the h1/h2/h3… size? (You need to tell me where to change the H1 size).

    Thanks,

    Kent

    Hi,

    Where is the heading title you want to change the size? And show me your site url.

    Both the “Willkommen bei Dinner um Acht” which is a wysiwyg text box, and the “Neu auf dem blog” which is a latest post element.

    Url: http://beta.dinnerumacht.de

    As the header style can’t be changed on the featured articles, latest posts elements, hopefully at least the font and size can be edited to make some flexibility on the theme.

    Hi,

    I saw your site, you has change the styles for homepage heading title ( in Customize > Colors for Homepage ).
    For the title: “Willkommen bei Dinner um Acht”, please send me admin url and admin account via email pencidesign@gmail.com, I will check it help you.

    Hi,

    Could you please look at this category (with box style 1):

    http://beta.dinnerumacht.de/category/rezensionen/

    How can I make the ingress (number of words) longer, before the “read more” link?

    Hi,

    You can change it in Customize > Other Layout Options > Custom Excerpt Length

    Best Regards,
    PenciDesign

    Ah, thanks, I knew I had seen it somewhere.

    Is it possible to set an excerpt length just for the boxed layout? I am using grid layout on the main page, and I don’t want so long excerpt there as for boxed layout. :/

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    You can add more this code at the end of functions.php file to change excerpt length without the homepage:

    /**
     * Change excerpt lenght for archive page
     */
    if( ! function_exists( 'penci_change_excerpt_length_archive' ) ) {
        function penci_change_excerpt_length_archive( $data ) {
            if( !is_home() && !is_front_page() ) {
                return '40';
            } else {
                return $data;
            }
        }
        add_filter( 'theme_mod_penci_post_excerpt_length', 'penci_change_excerpt_length_archive' );
    }

    Change number ’40’ on the above code to the excerpt length you want.
    Check this image to understand how to find functions.php file.

    Note: For excerpt length on the homepage, still change it via Customize > Other Layout Options > Custom Excerpt Length

    Hi again,

    1. I have suddenly got two main images on top of each post, do you know what could have happened? (e.g http://beta.dinnerumacht.de/2016/06/19/kokosnuss-tamarinden-tempeh-mit-gebratenen-okras-und-schnittlauchblueten/)

    2. Under the menu choice “Rezepte”, I have 10 posts… How can I change that number of posts?

    Regards,

    Kent

    Hi,

    1/ You can go to Customize > Single Option > and check to “Hide featured image on top”

    2/ You can change it in admin > Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most

    And you should update this theme to latest version ( ver 3.1 ). To update this theme, please check this guide:
